Weekly appointment, << Film "offers a new overview of the museum's cinematographic collections. De Stijl's interest in movement was theorized in a series of articles published between 1924 and 1927. The notion of "elementarism" developed by Theo Van Doesburg can be understood as a philosophy of the diagonal in art. If time and space are the most basic elements or means to create a new plastic expression, it replaces Mondrian's meditative compositions a new conception of harmony based on the dynamics of forces. Against harmonious stastism, between positive and negative, space and color, it is positioned in favor of an aesthetic of "counter-composition", built on optical dynamism. In between in motion and movement of surfaces, this program associates, from avant-garde cinema to its current development, linear balances and oblique compositions.
