Hennig, Dirk: Der Schatz im Aasee Die ganze Wahrheit. - Nach den Aufzeichnungen von Dr. Jaap van Hoofstraat Münster: Solibro-Verl., 2004 1. These “spade walkers” have browsed the bookstore and discovered the book “The Treasure in Lake Aa - The Whole Truth” by local researcher Dirk Hennig. Yes, there is said to be the treasure of the Münster merchant Hinrich von Hagen. And the treasure, as this book tells us, is still not upscale. Hard to believe? The author has a completely different opinion and, in addition to exciting reading, provides the historical facts. Every reader who has only saved a little of his carefree childhood imagination from sunken treasures feels tempted to run immediately into the basement to look for the spade, so credible is the book. Seriously: Dirk Hennig provides credible evidence that wealth is slumbering somewhere under the Aasee waves. It was only a few years ago that the author was given the fascinating opportunity to browse the archive of the historian Dr. Jaap van Hoofstraat. He came across the story of Hinrich von Hagen, followed it and wrote a captivating treatise in which even Annette von Droste-Hülshoff finds her mysterious place. Hinrich von Hagen lived in Münster in the time of the Anabaptists, who condemned all wealth. In the 16th century the merchant had no choice but to take his gold and silver to the city walls and bury it on a dark night. Incidentally, he did not return alive from this task, this adventure. Documentaries, records, stories and diaries want to underpin the authenticity of this story. Dirk Hennig took great care to accurately reproduce these historical facts. The book contains the treasure map from 1534 discovered in 1844 and also photographs from the early period of the previous century, which show that the treasure hunt on Lake Aa is actually nothing new.The treasure of von Hagen never left the search of the Münster residents. Does it exist or not? Whatever the answer may be: Dirk Hennig has created a lively documentary that deserves to be called a home thriller. And by no means only for historians and local historians. Where's my spade?" Stefan Herringslack Heimatpflege in Westfalen – 20.
